Core Value Statement:
“We are not a volunteer movement; we are a governance institution. We exist to harmonize ancestral wisdom and cultural knowledge with youth energy to drive tangible, data-driven national development, ensuring that the UN Sustainable Development Goals and Agenda 2063 aspirations are implemented at the district, regional, and national levels.”
About Us: The Founder’s Manifesto
“I started the Elizka Relief Foundation because I saw that we were fighting for the future, but we were leaving the most powerful force in Ghana—our youth—outside the room. We were winning on the global stage, but when I stepped onto the riverbanks in the Basins, or sat with the local aquaculture collectives, I saw a disconnect.
I didn’t start the Sankofa Stewardship Assembly to add another project to our portfolio. I started it because I’m tired of seeing Ghana’s brightest minds sidelined. I want to see our data scientists, our aquaculture experts, and our legal minds sitting across from the National House of Chiefs and the Ministry of Finance, not as interns, but as peers.
We have the hard data. We have the traditional blessing of the Stool. We have the global weight of Elizka’s accreditations. This Assembly is the permanent home for that energy. We aren’t asking for a seat at the table anymore; we are building our own.”
Governance: The Dual-Pillar Advantage
We don’t get caught in the friction between traditional and modern governance. We leverage both.
The Asanteman Anchor: We draw our foundational mandate from the wisdom of Asanteman. Our work is rooted in traditional land stewardship, ensuring our initiatives are culturally sustainable and backed by ancestral authority.
The NHC Integration: We act as a technical partner to the National House of Chiefs (NHC). By providing high-fidelity, evidence-based data on river basin health and biodiversity, we empower the institution of Chieftaincy to be a central actor in national development.
The Sankofa Seat: Every official session reserves a “Sankofa Seat.” This is a mandatory, procedural inclusion of a designated Elder or Traditional Representative. No policy regarding land, culture, or resource management is passed without their formal acknowledgment.
The Four Chambers
We do not just advocate. We operate through these technical policy hubs:
| Chamber | Operational Focus | Global Goals (SDGs) |
| Ecological Heritage | River Basin & Biodiversity Restoration | SDGs 6, 13, 14, 15 |
| Blue Economy | Sustainable Aquaculture Value Chains | SDGs 1, 2, 8, 9 |
| Innovation & Prosperity | Precision Tech & Digital Mapping | SDGs 3, 4, 9, 10, 17 |
| Traditional Oversight | Cultural Governance & Law | SDGs 5, 16, 17 |
Our Commitment: Leaving No One Behind (Lnob)
We refuse to build a Ghana that works only for the able-bodied or the urban elite.
Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS): We actively protect and leverage indigenous wisdom. Indigenous communities are our co-designers, not our subjects.
Gender Parity: Women are the backbone of our rural economies. We actively dismantle the barriers that keep them from leadership in the blue economy.
Universal Accessibility: We employ “universal design.” If our technology or policy cannot be used by a person with a disability, we consider it a failure.
Join Us: The Commissioner Portal
Be a Builder, Not a Volunteer.
Membership in the SSA is a merit-based governance role. Commissioners are the backbone of our Assembly. You are not signing up for a title; you are signing up for the responsibility of building a national institution.
The Criteria:
Technical Rigor: You must understand the policy framework of your specific Chamber.
Diplomatic Acumen: You will represent the SSA to Chiefs, the Ministry, and international diplomats.
Institutional Loyalty: You are building a permanent institution, not a career stepping stone.
The “Sankofa Standard” (Code of Ethics):
All Commissioners commit to:
Non-Partisanship: We serve the national interest, not political parties.
Data Integrity: We do not guess. If our data is flawed, our policy recommendations will fail.
Duty of Voice: Silence in the face of environmental or social collapse is a violation of your oath.
